Helping Shape LATAM's Digital Health Foundation
We recently wrapped up an impactful trip to the OpenHealth Summit and Forum Salud Digital Americas, connecting with healthcare executives, open-source advocates, and digital health leaders from Mexico and across the broader LATAM community.
At the OpenHealth Summit 2026, we joined a panel discussion exploring the future of digital health, with our contribution focused on the critical need to ground healthcare environments in established healthcare standards. At Forum Salud Digital Americas, the conversation centered on AI in healthcare. We made the case that proper use of healthcare standards in AI is essential to avoid the garbage-in, garbage-out problem that can lead AI systems to produce faulty, unreliable results.
Across both events, a clear consensus emerged: the future of medicine in LATAM depends on the full support of the healthcare community, proven solutions, and government endorsement. Standardized terminology and open, integrated data pipelines are the non-negotiable prerequisites for scaling clinical AI and driving smart hospital innovation. We believe these two conferences helped cement that understanding in Mexico and across the region.
It was a great few days and of course, we enjoyed the chance to reconnect with familiar faces and forge new relationships alike.
At West Coast Informatics, we help healthcare organizations build the terminology infrastructure needed to power AI readiness, eliminate data silos, and enable scalable interoperability. If your organization is preparing for the next phase of digital health transformation, schedule a meeting and let's start the conversation or email us for more information.
